This sensor is a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) thermistor. As temperature increases, its resistance decreases. It converts the temperature of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) within the automatic transmission into a voltage signal transmitted to the Transmission Control Module (TCM). This signal serves as the basis for the TCM to execute shift control, oil pressure control, and lock-up clutch control.
The oil temperature sensor features a simple structure and compact dimensions. It is commonly deployed in automotive transmissions to monitor Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) temperature.
